GOAL Digital Academy Launches Enhanced Digital Learning Experience for 2026-2027School Year

GOAL Digital Academy is beginning the 2026-2027 school year with a redesigned digital

learning experience aimed at making online learning easier to navigate, more consistent across courses and better equipped to support students as technology continues to change education.

At the center of the update is GOAL's new Canvas Course Blueprint, which creates greater consistency across courses while still allowing teachers to personalize instruction. Students will now encounter a more familiar structure as they move from one course to another, including consistent navigation, weekly course organization and clearly identified places to find lessons, assignments, teacher support and other important resources. The goal is simple: students should spend less time figuring out where to go and more time learning. The updated course experience also gives students easier access to tutorials and resources that help them understand how to navigate their courses, check their grades, communicate with staff and get help when they need it.

GOAL Digital Academy is expanding its focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy for the

2026-2027 school year, preparing youth for a rapidly evolving future. Because the majority of jobs our students will hold in the future have not even been created yet, AI is a tool they must learn to navigate using higher-order thinking skills. This focus directly aligns with statewide workforce developments, such as the AI Ready Ohio initiative and expanding technology sectors projected to generate tens of thousands of technical and data-driven jobs across the state. To ensure safety and efficacy, GOAL strictly limits which AI platforms are allowable, guaranteeing an educationally appropriate environment. This balanced approach helps students learn to use AI responsibly and uphold academic integrity while keeping critical thinking, creativity, and human problem-solving at the heart of their education.

While these updates are digital, they reflect GOAL Digital Academy's broader approach to education: combining the flexibility of online learning with access to teachers, educational advocates, counselors, intervention specialists and in-person Learning Labs throughout Ohio. By creating greater consistency within its online classrooms and establishing clear expectations around emerging technology, GOAL is continuing to evolve its learning model while keeping student support at the center.

"Our goal is to make sure every student knows where to go, how to get help and what is

expected of them when they enter a GOAL course," said Curriculum Director, Rob Terrill.

"At the same time, we have a responsibility to prepare students for the technology they will encounter beyond school. These updates allow us to do both, create a stronger learning experience today while helping students develop the skills and judgment they will need for the future. "

The enhanced digital learning experience is being implemented across GOAL Digital Academy courses beginning with the 2026–27 school year.
